You might be surprised to hear it, but the most important item in my family's kitchen isn't my oven -- but rather our crock pot.

Whether you call it a slow cooker or crock pot, this small appliance has proven its versatility and benefit in adding convenience to our lives -- especially for my wife who does most of the cooking.

She uses our crock pot to prepare many different types of dinners, from spaghetti sauce, chili, stew and some really good pork BBQ. It's great for preparing ribs. My wife even swears you can bake a cake in our slow cooker.

What my wife loves about it is how convenient and easy it makes coming up with a good dinner. She really likes how in the morning before leaving home she throws together some ingriedients in the slow cooker and -- voila! -- dinner is ready as soon as you walk in the door when you get home at night.
